Crystal
McCabe has been studying Pilates since 1998 at Texas Woman's
University. There, she met Elizabeth Jones-Boswell and began studying
with her in 1999. Crystal was certified in Neuromuscular Rehabilitation
with the Pilates Method in 2000 from the Physical Conditioning Center
in Houston. She began her teaching in various gyms and studios in the
Austin area while studying Dance and Choreography at the University of
Texas at Austin.
In 2002, Crystal received her BFA from UT and
began working at HealthSouth Physical Therapy Clinic as a PT Tech. She
worked with two great physical therapists that enhanced her knowledge
of the injured body before and after surgery. She was also able to
share her knowledge of Pilates with them and their patients to help
with the ongoing recovery process. Crystal
opened her own Pilates studio at the end of 2003 within the Plum
Blossom Wellness Center. A little over a year later, she ventured on
her own and opened the CORE Conditioning Studio. In 2004, she completed
her advanced studies in Pilates with emphasis on scoliosis,
osteoporosis and pelvic and shoulder stability. Crystal also added an
AFFA Personal Fitness Trainer and Group Class Trainer Certification in
February 2007.
Since then, she has added a pre-natal video, available in the future, to her list of accomplishments in the eighth month of her pregnancy with Elsie.
Crystal, Patrick and Eunice have recently took the BASI Pilates Teacher Training Program to continue there study in Pilates with Brandon Gamble in Tacoma. We enjoyed revisiting the work on a fresh new level and getting more dept of knowledge of the Pilates work through the BASI Company.
Crystal is now working on developing her lectures about womans' issues as well as a project that defines the difference between Healthy and Fit. She is also seeking out other modalities that fit within the scope of her practice and developing her knowledge of the body to deeper levels. She is looking to help her clients continue to take steps in the direction that fits there personal needs in movement and in life.
